Welcome to the first issue of Newfield Institute’s newsletter Observing Differently.
Why the title Observing Differently? It speaks to the essence of Newfield Institute’s approach to transformation – if we are to live well individually and collectively in increasingly uncertain and complex times, our habitual and traditional ways of observing and understanding the world and the nature of change are no longer sufficient. Different levels of observing, thinking and taking action are required.
In each edition of this newsletter we will pose questions and offer perspectives, new ideas and practical examples that can be of benefit to you. We encourage your responses and conversation about the thoughts we offer.
With best wishes

Australian commentator Hugh Mackay has noted that this time in history can be characterised as “The Big Angst”, or an Age of Anxiety.
Difficult times call for the emergence of new ways of thinking that will enable us to navigate the challenges that confront us. The presence of Anxiety significantly compromises the development of creativity and innovation that are indispensable for the emergence of different ways of observing and new constructive paths of action.
